In two letters of April 1908, Marriott responds to letters from Roberts on topics that include Marriott's novel The kiss of Helen, and general questions of marriage, instincts, and relations between men and women. In September of that year, Marriott asks Roberts's permission to dedicate his new novel to him; that letter has a pencilled sketch of a windmill. A letter of November 1908 is a response to Roberts's novel David Bran. Six letters written in 1912 all concern Roberts's book The private life of Henry Maitland, both before and after publication. The last item, in 1921, contains Marriott's response to a request from Roberts for advice about selling a collection of art by Frank Brangwyn; as well as news about his family life and his literary work.
